Xiaomi has officially debuted its latest flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, via a special launch event held in Barcelona, ahead of MWC 2025. Designed to deliver professional-grade photography and a next-generation mobile experience, the high-end model offers upgraded display and hardware, along with an advanced imaging system co-engineered with Leica.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra showcases a refined design built with premium materials, featuring high-strength CNC-crafted aluminum frame to ensure structural integrity, along with Xiaomi Shield Glass 2.0 for improved drop resistance. Corning Gorilla Glass 7i further protects the camera module, enhancing durability against daily wear and impact.
The high-end variant is available in Black, White, and Silver Chrome. The latter colourway draws inspiration from classic Leica camera aesthetics, and integrates aerospace-grade glass fibre which enhances durability while maintaining a lightweight structure. Its PU leather finish and retro image stitching pay homage to traditional cameras.
The Ultra features a 6.73-inch WQHD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 3200 x 1440 pixels, 522 ppi, and a peak brightness of 3,200 nits. Xiaomi has integrated an upgraded ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for faster and more reliable unlocking, even in challenging conditions such as wet or dirty fingers.
Powering the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, paired with 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB UFS 4.1 storage for seamless performance. The Xiaomi IceLoop cooling system enhances thermal efficiency, maintaining stability during intensive tasks like gaming, video recording, and AI processing.
Equipped with a 5,410mAh battery, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra ensures extended usability throughout the day. The battery utilises a high-density 10% silicon carbide composition for increased capacity without additional bulk. It supports 90W wired HyperCharge and 80W wireless HyperCharge, offering rapid charging speeds for uninterrupted usage. Additional features include an upgraded audio experience with enhanced stereo speakers, an advanced haptic feedback system and comprehensive connectivity options, including Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0 provides a streamlined and intuitive user experience, optimising system fluidity, security, and cross-device connectivity. Google Gemini AI integration via HyperAI brings advanced productivity tools to this model, including AI-assisted writing, speech recognition and image processing. Also included are image enhancers such as AI Image Expansion, AI Reflection Removal, and AI Magic Sky. For the Ultra, the company offers four years of Android support and five years of security updates.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is equipped with a quad-camera setup co-developed with Leica, covering focal lengths from 14mm to 200mm. The main camera features a 50MP 1-inch Sony LYT-900 sensor with a Leica Summilux lens, offering a variable aperture of f/1.63 and a dynamic range of 14EV for superior low-light performance. A 70mm 50MP floating telephoto camera provides enhanced portrait capabilities and macro photography from as close as 10cm. The 100mm 50MP periscope telephoto camera enables extended optical zoom, reaching up to 200mm with in-sensor zoom technology. Completing the system, the 14mm 50MP ultra-wide camera delivers expansive shots with minimal distortion. Meanwhile, up front is a 32MP selfie camera.
Cinematic video recording capabilities include 4K 120fps slow-motion recording on both the main and periscope telephoto cameras, along with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) for stable footage. The device supports Dolby Vision recording at 4K 60fps and 10-bit Log video across all focal lengths. An integrated 4-Mic array enables advanced audio recording, with directional and omnidirectional modes for professional-grade sound capture.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra Photography Kit Legend Edition is available separately for enthusiasts looking to enhance their mobile photography experience. It features a detachable grip with a shutter button, a 67mm filter adapter ring, and an integrated 2,000mAh battery to extend usability during extended shoots. The kit’s design is inspired by traditional cameras, incorporating ergonomic enhancements for a more intuitive shooting experience.
Pricing for the Xiaomi 15 Ultra in Malaysia starts from RM5,199 for the 16GB + 512GB configuration and RM5,699 for the 16GB + 1TB. The Ultra Photography Kit Legend Edition, on the other hand, is sold separately at RM799.
