vivo sub-brand iQOO today has officially opened pre-orders for its new iQOO Z9 mid-range smartphone series for the Malaysian market. Consisting of two variants, users get to pick between the higher specced vanilla model, or the more affordable Z9x 5G.
To start things off, we have the iQOO Z9 5G. This particular variant is equipped with a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with FHD resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. Also onboard is an under-screen fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, Android 14 via OriginOS 4, and IP64 water/dust resistance.
On the inside, the phone is equipped with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage, and a 6,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging support. Apart from dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, it also features an IR emitter and NFC capability.
For imaging, found on the back of the iQOO Z9 5G is a 50MP primary camera and a 2MP depth sensor. In front, situated within the punch-hole cutout on the phone’s display is a 16MP selfie shooter.
Next up we have the iQOO Z9x 5G, which offers a slightly smaller 6.72-inch IPS LCD display with FHD resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. It also comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a loudspeaker, a 3.5mm audio jack, and IP64 water/dust resistance.
Under its hood is a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chip, along with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. Its battery has a capacity of 6,000mAh, and a slower fast charging rate of 44W. Other features include dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity, and Android 14 via OriginOS 4.
As for photography, the dual camera setup on the iQOO Z9x is similar to its sibling, where it too features a 50MP primary and a 2MP depth sensor. However, the phone instead features a smaller 8MP selfie camera in front.
According to vivo’s official Shopee store, pre-orders for the iQOO Z9 5G is currently offered at RM1,333, while the 128GB and 256GB configurations of the iQOO Z9x 5G is at RM879 and RM1,047 respectively. It is also worth noting that the larger storage option for the latter is only exclusive to Shopee at this time.
As part of its cross-platform Early Access promotion, vivo is enabling consumers to utilise discount vouchers from RM200 off on Shopee, Lazada and Tiktok to pre-order the new iQOO Z9 series for even less. However, keep in mind that this deal is only running from 25 April until 8 May 2024.
