U Mobile today has unveiled a new bundle package for its U Home 5G plan, which now includes a free Wi-Fi 6 5G router. As with the original SIM-only option that was introduced in June of last year, it is also offered at a promotional price of RM68/month, along with unlimited 4G and 5G high-speed data.
With the new plan, those who sign up with the U Home 5G bundle will receive a brand-new Wi-Fi 6 5G CPE router for free with 2-year warranty, though bear in mind that it does involve a 24-month contract. As for the plan itself, while unlimited 4G/5G high-speed data is offered, it does come with a Fair Usage Policy (FUP) of 1,000GB per month and speeds will be throttled to 512kbps if the monthly quota limit is reached.
Another thing to note is that U Mobile will assign two different routers to customers, but there’s no way for them to choose a preferred model. During a preview session last month, the telco revealed that the devices in question will either be from Kaon or ZTE. Each one sports a different design, with the former offering only two LAN ports while the latter has four instead. Despite their differences, both are said to be retailing for RM699 and offer support for Wi-Fi 6 and 5G SA.
Existing subscribers to the SIM-only U Home 5G will be glad to know that they too are eligible to take on the free router. According to U Mobile’s FAQ, customers are required to sign up for the bundle’s Minimum Commitment Period of 24 months via the telco’s eligible channels in order to claim the device. Meanwhile, early termination fees of the remaining contract balance is charged if subscribers decide to cancel the contract.
