As promised, Tecno today has officially launched its new Spark 20 mid-range smartphone for the Malaysian market. Based on the information revealed, it will have the same specifications as its release in India, though only two of the colourways revealed will be available locally.
To recap, the newly introduced smartphone shares some similarities with Tecno’s entry-level Spark 20C in terms of design and other components, but packs a more powerful MediaTek chipset as well as a larger internal storage capacity. The Spark 20 sports a 6.6-inch display with 90Hz refresh rate and HD+ (720 x 1612 px) resolution. Also onboard is a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, dual stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack and Android 13 via the brand’s HiOS 13 platform, while the phone itself is rated IP53 in water and dust resistance.
On the inside, it features a mid-range MediaTek Helio G85 chipset that’s paired together with a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU, 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. Do take note that the Tecno Spark 20 is marketed as 16GB because of its onboard virtual memory expansion tool, which lets you boost the RAM count with up to an additional 8GB after conversion. And if you need extra space, a microSD card slot is available that allows for storage expansion up to 1TB. Meanwhile, powering the phone is a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support via USB-C.
On the back of the phone is a dual camera setup consisting of a 50MP primary sensor and a 0.08MP auxiliary camera. In front, housed within the punch-hole cutout on its display is a 32MP selfie camera. The same cutout is also where the Dynamic Port will be located, which is basically Tecno’s take on the iPhone’s Dynamic Island feature.
The new Tecno Spark 20 is available now at RM499 via the brand’s official online stores on Shopee and Lazada. For the Malaysian market, the phone is offered in just Gravity Black and Cyber White colourways, therefore lacking the Neon Gold and Magic Skin 2.0 (Blue) options.
