Beyerdynamic recently announced the MMX 200, the audio brand’s first-ever wireless gaming headset. Like its wired counterparts, the new headset is packed with modern features and the brand’s sound signature, while doing away with the frustration of having its wires getting tangled or coiled.
As per the official fluff from Beyerdynamic’s product page, the MMX 200 comes with the same competitive advantage as its wired brethren, featuring 40mm high-performance drivers that have been tuned by the brand’s acoustics engineers. The end results of said tuning is a sound signature that is covered across the whole frequency spectrum. In addition, the headset is also equipped with a Digital Signal Processor that elevates the experience.
Beyond the listening experience, communication is also key to a gaming headset. To that end, the MMX 200 features a META VOICE detachable boom microphone, complete with a 9mm condenser capsule that the Beyerdynamic says will make your voice sound like you’re speaking from within a podcast studio.
Speaking of META, connectivity options for the MMX 200 is bountiful – while primarily a wireless gaming headset, Beyerdynamic ensured that the headset not only connects to your desktop via the provided Low Latency Wireless Adapter (read: the USB dongle that is probably using the 2.4GHz frequency), the META SWITCH allows user to choose between Bluetooth 5.3, as well as 3.5mm wired connectivity.
Circling back to its wireless connectivity, the MMX 200 is also equipped with an advertised battery life of up to 50 hours on a single charge. That’s a pretty bold claim, but it’s not an uncommon feature either. Both Logitech and Razer offer similar, if not longer, battery endurance with their respective wireless gaming headsets. Oh, and there are no built-in RGB LEDs with this headset and that’s fine, given that Beyerdynamic never really bought in to the whole “blinking light” aesthetics.
As for pricing, the Beyerdynamic MMX 200 retails for US$249 (~RM1,172) and you can purchase it via the official product page. At the time of writing, there doesn’t appear to be local pricing.
