Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd, otherwise known as PROLINTAS, today announced that its Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE) has begun pilot testing for the Open Payment System (OPS), which allows road users to utilise contactless debit or credit card based payments for tolls. This arrives not long after the operator commenced the same trial on its Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (AKLEH) during the weekend.

In a statement, PROLINTAS group chief executive officer Datuk Mohammad Azlan Abdullah said the new OPS terminal is available at a dedicated lane for Class 1 vehicles (cars) that’s marked with a new gantry signboard. He added that these can be found at three toll plazas on the GCE highway, namely Bukit Jelutong Toll Plaza, Elmina Toll Plaza and Lagon Toll Plaza.

Much like other highways in Peninsular Malaysia prior to this, the introduction of OPS to GCE and AKLEH acts as an addition to the existing toll payment methods such as Touch ‘n Go, SmartTag and RFID. Mohammad Azlan believes that the initiative will provide motorists with greater convenience and will contribute to the overall improvement of the nation’s highway industry.

In case you missed it, the OPS pilot test has already been introduced to eight other highways since last month. These include the Sungai Besi Expressway (BESRAYA), New Pantai Expressway (NPE), Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP), Western Kuala Lumpur Traffic Dispersal Scheme (SPRINT), Shah Alam Expressway (KESAS), SMART Tunnel, Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE), and Maju Expressway (MEX).

With PROLINTAS’ two highways included, this brings the total number of highways trialling the system to ten, which leaves two more to go: Penang Bridge (JPP) and Butterworth-Kulim Expressway (BKE).
