LG announced the new UltraGear monitor, officially designated as the 49GR85DC. Specifically, the new display is a curved, ultrawide gaming monitor, with a expansive display real estate of 49-inches.

Additional specifications of the UltraGear 49-inch curved gaming monitor include a panel that is essentially dual QHD panels combined, in order to create a panel with a 1000R curvature. On that note, the maximum resolution of this monitor isn’t 4K but DHQD, or 5120 x 1440 pixels. It also has a higher-than-average, ultrafast refresh rate of 240Hz and 1ms GTG response time, along with a peak brightness of 1000 nits, thanks to its VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification, and a contrast ratio of 3000:1. On a related note, the monitor’s panel is VA and not IPS.

For ports, LG’s UltraGear 49-inch curved gaming monitor comes equipped with two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4 port, one USB 3.0 port for upstreaming, two USB 3.0 ports for downstreaming, and a headphone out port that supports DTS HP:X. To power it up, the monitor’s power adapter is built inside the monitor, which means that you’ll have to connect its power cable directly to the back of it, making for easier cable management.

“As the gaming monitor market continues to mature and grow, so too does the demand for expansive displays offering high refresh rates and superb picture quality,” Seo Young-jae, senior vice president and head of the IT business unit of LG Electronics Business Solutions Company, said. “Designed for gaming, but equally suited to multitasking, the new LG UltraGear is a versatile, premium display solution that shows our commitment and ability to satisfy the diverse needs of today’s consumers.”
