The blood pressure (BP) and ECG tracking features for Samsung Galaxy Watch are now officially available in our market. According to the official press announcement by Samsung Malaysia, both of them can be obtained by Galaxy Watch owners starting from 25 January.
Part of the Samsung Health Monitor umbrella, the BP and ECG tracking features have long been available on Galaxy Watch although they were activated only at selected markets. This is due to the fact that both functions require approvals from health authorities.
Some may have noticed that the Galaxy Watch is not equipped with a pressure cuff and might wonder how can the smartwatch still able to perform BP monitoring. The answer would be its calibration process which required the user to first enter the reading from an actual cuff-based BP monitor.
Meanwhile, the press announcement as well as Samsung Malaysia’s website focused solely on Galaxy Watch5 and Watch5 Pro though. As these features were already available on older Galaxy Watch models such as Galaxy Watch4, Galaxy Watch3, and Galaxy Watch Active2, so this seemed rather odd.

Hence, we have reached out to Samsung to obtain further clarifications and will update this story once we received more information. So, stay tuned.
