vivo Malaysia has officially launched its new vivo Y22s mid-range smartphone in Malaysia. The device, which was announced earlier last week, packs the same Snapdragon chipset as the Y35 from August, but at a slightly more affordable price.

For the local market, the new vivo Y22s comes with the same specifications as its release in Vietnam, but is only offered in a single memory configuration. To recap our initial report, the phone features a notched 6.55-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 720 x 1612 pixels, 20.1:9 aspect ratio, 70% NTSC colour gamut, and up to 90 Hz refresh rate. There’s a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, loudspeaker, USB-C port, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Additionally, it is also rated IP5X for dust resistance and IPX4 for water resistance.

Internally, the vivo Y22s is equipped with a 4G-enabled Qualcomm Snapdragon 680, 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. As you may have expected, this model also comes with a RAM expansion feature which can convert up to 8GB of storage space into virtual memory. Besides that, it features Android 12 out of the box via the brand’s Funtouch 12 platform, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, but lacks NFC support.

Meanwhile, powering the mid-range phone is a 5,000 mAh battery, along with 18 W fast charging support via USB-C. According to vivo, a 70 minute charge is capable of topping up around 70% of its battery.

Lastly, the handset comes with a dual camera setup on its back, which consists of a 50 MP f/1.8 primary and a 2 MP f/2.4 macro sensor. Housed within the notch on its display, on the other hand, is a 8 MP f/2.0 selfie camera.

The vivo Y22s is available now via the brand’s official store on Shopee for RM 999. In terms of colour selection, the new mid-ranger is available in either Summer Cyan or Starlit Blue colour options.
