Acer earlier this week unveiled the latest iteration of its Swift 5 notebook in Malaysia. The 2022 edition of the laptop brings together not only a new processor line-up in the form of the 12th Gen Intel Core processors but also a whole new design altogether.
First introduced back in February, Acer forgoes the magnesium alloy chassis that the company has used for previous generations of Swift 5 and opted for full aluminium chassis instead. Not surprisingly, this has made the new model heavier than its sub-1kg predecessors but it still can be considered as a lightweight laptop since the 2022 Swift 5 weighs just around 1.2kg.
Other changes that Acer has brought into the new model is a 14-inch touchscreen with a 16:10 aspect ratio as opposed to the traditional 16:9 ratio and protected by a layer of Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass. Additionally, customers can choose to obtain it with a resolution as high as 2560 x 1600.
Acer also noted that the laptop has been equipped with a Full HD MIPI webcam that has been enhanced with the company’s Temporal Noise Reduction technology to ensure high-quality video output. At the same time, it has also implemented PurifiedVoice with AI Noise Reduction to help maintain voice quality.
To help cool down the 2022 Swift 5, the company has implemented an air inlet into the laptop’s keyboard that can help expel up to 10% more heat than its traditional counterpart. In addition to that, the Intel Evo-certified laptop also features dual D6 heat pipes and Twin Air dual-fan system.
When it comes to battery life, the 2022 Swift 5 can apparently last up to between 9.5 to 10 hours. It also comes with a quick charge feature which allows it to obtain more than 4 hours of battery with just 30 minutes of charging time.
Available in Mist Green, the base model for the 2022 Swift 5 which has a 1920 x 1200 display panel, an Intel Core i5-1240P, 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 512GB solid state drive costs RM4,699. For the mid-tier option which retains the same display panel but features Intel Core i7-1260P, 16GB RAM, and 1TB drive, it can be obtained for RM5,999.
On the other hand, the top-of-the-line model still has a similar processor, RAM, and storage configuration but features a higher resolution 2560 x 1600 touch display and an RM6,599 price tag instead. The 2022 Swift 5 is now readily available through Acer Malaysia eStore and authorized dealers across the country as well as Acer’s official store on Shopee and Lazada.
