PLUS: You’ll Still Need To Tap Your TNG Card At Toll Gates During Raya

Likewise, the same principles apply to RFID users.

With Hari Raya Aidilfitri just around the corner and Muslims around the country getting ready for the long travel period down the highways to their hometowns, there is but one message to the people: if you are planning on taking advantage of the free toll weekend periods, you will still need to tap your Touch ‘n Go (TNG) card as well as use your RFID tag in their respective lanes.

As previously reported, all highways under the management of PLUS Berhad will be waiving their toll fees from 12:00AM 30 April till 11:59PM 1 May, and 12:00AM 7 May till 11:59PM 8 May. While this will be the case, travellers will still be required to tap their TNG card or use their Smart Tag in their respective lanes, whenever you enter and exit the Expressways. Likewise, for RFID users, similar principles apply, whereby users are required to enter and exit the expressways via prepared RFID lanes. To put it simply, if you enter these expressways using an RFID lane, then you should definitely exit said expressway through an RFID lane.

On that note, PLUS is also advising all travellers using the TNG and Smart Tag lanes to ensure that their TNG cards are still valid, as dormant or expired cards will be declined at the tolls, which in turn could end up causing unwanted congestions, further compounding what could effectively be one of the largest traffic congestions for the season. In order to check if your card is still valid, you can visit the TNG portal and at the same time or check your TNG eWallet app if it is linked to your card.

For that matter, should you miss the waiver periods, travellers will have no choice but to pay full toll charges.
