Back in 2018, we reviewed both of Secretlab’s Throne and Omega edition gaming chairs. The chairs were breathtakingly comfortable and while they aren’t cheap, what they provided was worth every penny.
Two years on, the Singapore-based company are now selling its 2020 Edition chairs and as luck would have it, the brand sent over its large Titan edition gaming chair to our office for us to have a sit-down and gander.
What Is It?
As I mentioned at the start, the Titan 2020 is one of Secretlab’s latest gaming chair and unlike the Omega and Throne, it sports some features that are otherwise not present on the two. I say “one of” its latest because the company also has an XL variant which is 25% bigger and support up to 180kg. Versus the 130kg that is supported by the non-XL version of the Titan. But, before I get ahead of myself, I have to point out that the Titan XL isn’t on sale in the Malaysian market, yet.
On a side note, the Titan 2020 that I have uses Secretlab’s SoftWeave fabric, and more specifically, the Charcoal Blue colour scheme. Naturally, it’s also available in the brand’s PRIME 2.0 PU Leather, but do note that our market only gets themes: Stealth, Dota 2, and Dark Knight. As for the SoftWeave fabric, you have a choice between Black, Cookies & Cream, and Charcoal Blue.
Fabrics notwithstanding, the Titan 2020 comes with all accoutrements deserving of a Secretlab chair. This includes the 4D armrest, its Cold-Cure foam mix for both the seat and backrest, and the signature memory foam pillow for my head.
Is It Any Good?
Over the years, I have sat in several brands of gaming chairs, there is little doubt in my mind – plus the muscle memory of my rump – that Secretlab’s chairs are some of the most comfortable chairs that I have ever had the pleasure of sitting in and the Titan 2020 Edition chair is no exception.
Physically, I’m a big guy, so I absolutely love that the chair is able to take my weight and still maintain its full range of motion, such as the car seat reclination, chair tilt, and the steady hydraulic piston.
Unlike the Omega and Throne, the Titan 2020 doesn’t come with a lumbar pillow, but that’s simply because the chair’s lumbar support is built directly into the backrest. The best part of this feature, though, is that I can adjust the intensity of the feature, which take the comfort levels up another level.
The Bad Stuff. Tell Me.
If there is one crippling flaw with the Titan 2020, it would be that it is not cheap. Pricing starts from SG$549 (~RM1811) for just the PRIME 2.0 PU Leather option and can skyrocket up to SG$619 (~RM2042) for special edition fabrics, such as the recently announced SoftWeave Black edition upholstery. The SoftWeave variant I have, Charcoal Blue, retails for SG$579 (~RM1910).
Beyond that, there’s actually very little fault to be found with the Titan 2020. They say everything good in this world comes at a price, and at those prices, you’re getting a gaming chair with the solid build quality and fantastic stability. Thanks on no small part to its aluminium wheelbase.
Should I Buy It?
If you’re like me and you spend a lot of time at working at your desk – whether you’re working from home or at the office – having a chair like the Secretlab Titan 2020 is actually a worthwhile investment. In all honesty, the chair is worth every sen, and while there are more affordable alternatives on the market, you’d be hard-pressed to find a gaming chair as comfortable and as versatile as this.
