Astro earlier today has announced that it will provide rebates to Sports Pack customers for the next two months. The move was taken in consideration to the lack of live sporting events for the past few months which have been cancelled or postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Subscribers that are eligible for the rebate will receive RM 20 discount per month in their June and July bills automatically. Only valid for residential customers with the full Sports Pack, this rebate is not applicable for Premier League Pack, Sports Lite Pack, and ala-carte sports content.
Interesting enough, the FAQ section of the announcement revealed that Astro has yet to make any decision if the current lack of live sports goes on further. For now, it has no intention to provide a further discount as Astro stated that it still has to incur all related broadcasting costs despite the current situation.
The Sports Pack rebate is the latest addition to the list of Movement Control Order (MCO) efforts that Astro has announced before which include complimentary access to Learning, News, and Asian movie channels as well as Stay Home Concert channel for all of its subscribers until 9 June 2020. The company has also provided access for Astro GO streaming service to both Astro and non-Astro subscribers.
