Astro Provides Complimentary HD Access To SD Customers Until End of April

Since last month, multiple local content and entertainment companies have provided free access to their catalog or services to keep Malaysians occupied while they cope with the on-going Movement Control Order (MCO). For Astro, the list has since grown further after complimentary access to movie channels, and Astro GO.

It appears that Astro has begin to offer HD access to customers that didn’t include the optional high-definition service as part of their package. Furthermore, the complimentary access allows them to view HD channels that are not included in their subscription without any additional fee.

In order to obtain this, you need to plug in your Astro B.yond, PVR, or Ultra Box to the TV via HDMI cable. If you plugged in your Astro box to the TV using the tri-colour composite AV cable, you still able to access Astro’s HD channels but only in standard definition due the limitation of the cable.

As noted on Astro’s support site, this complimentary HD access is already available immediately and will last until 30 April 2020. However, the free access doesn’t apply to NJOI customers even if they already have a HD-enabled box.
