UPDATE (8:30 PM): Grab Malaysia has since suspended the self-pickup option for GrabFood in response to the announcements made by PM Muhyiddin Yassin earlier today.
ORIGINAL STORY (2:58 PM):
Grab Malaysia has announced that customers can now choose to self-collect their purchase when they order their meal through GrabFood. The company believes that this option will help customers save more time especially during the on-going Movement Control Order whereby there is a tremendous increase of home delivery orders.
Available for selected restaurants, you can access them by choosing “Self pick-up” on the home page of GrabFood section within the Grab app. Do note that, the only payment method accepted for this option is via GrabPay.
Grab has also announced that the company is introducing a new option within GrabMart called Pasar which provides delivery service for fresh produce, poultry, meat, and seafood. Starting from today onwards, Pasar Besar Taman Tun Dr Ismail in Kuala Lumpur is the first market to be available under the new option with more markets are expected to be added soon.
The company has also revealed that GrabMart will be made available in Penang, Ipoh, Melaka, Johor Bahru, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu by 25 March. Once the option goes live, you should be able to see the “Mart” icon on the home page of your Grab app.
Meanwhile, please don’t forget to practice good hygiene and stay home throughout the on-going Movement Control Order period. We can only win this fight against COVID-19 by doing the right thing together, so stay safe.
