Xiaomi Provides Free 20000mAh Power Banks To Journalists Camping At Istana Negara

For the past few days, we have been treated to rather unprecedented manoeuvres within Malaysia’s political space which has led to the resignation of Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and dissolution of the Cabinet. Even though the Yang di-Pertuan Agong XVI, Sultan Abdullah of Pahang has accepted his resignation, His Majesty subsequently appoints Tun Dr Mahathir as the interim Prime Minister.

Sultan Abdullah has then called upon all MPs to Istana Negara in order to personally interview each of them, with the objective to find the suitable candidate to become the next Prime Minister. Given the situation, throngs of journalists have braved the elements and camped in front of the Istana Negara for the past few days in order to provide the latest news to the Rakyat.

Their dedication to their assignment has received the attention of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong himself who actually went down to the entrance to personally distribute meals to the journalists yesterday. Not surprisingly, this has also attracted attention from other companies to follow suit including Xiaomi.

On its Facebook page earlier today, Xiaomi has posted several images which showed a team from Xiaomi Malaysia distributing power banks to journalists at Istana Negara. One of the images clearly showed that the exact power bank that Xiaomi provided to them is a 20,000mAh Redmi 18W fast charge power bank.

With that much capacity, those power banks should be able to last for quite a while. So, we hope that they would be able to help fellow journalists at Istana Negara to deliver continues updates directly from the scene.
