We’re all familiar with what happened. Heck, we’re furious to our bones! Our former Prime Minister, Najib Tun Razak and his gang of cronies syphoned billions of dollars from a Malaysian government fund known as 1MDB (1 Malaysia Development Berhad) into their personal accounts.
But did you know, there’s a documentary made about it?
Directed by Sam Hobkinson and Havana Marking, The Kleptocrats, details one has been touted as one of the world’s biggest financial crimes. The documentary features exclusive interviews with Nazir Razak (Najib’s brother), Tony Pua (Member of Parliament, Damansara), Zunar (political cartoonist who was hounded during Najib’s reign as Prime Minister), activist Anis Syafiqah, the acclaimed authors of Billion Dollar Whale and many, many more.
The documentary features exclusive footage of Jho Low and Najib meeting in New York and the crazy parties threw by Riza Aziz in which Kanye West and Pharrell Williams performed. Urgh! Even thinking about it makes my stomach fire up.
The Kleptocrats was previously screening on Astro and Astro GO.
Now, however, it will also be screening on a brand new streaming service called, iwonder, which is set to launch in Malaysia TODAY. On it, you’ll not only be able to watch The Kleptocrats but also more than 1000 documentary movies and series for only $US 4.99 (approximately RM 20). Don’t worry, you’ll get a one-month free trial first. The streaming service is founded by former iflix senior management.
