Will You Eat This Much KFC For A Special FF XIV Chocobo Mount?

Domino’s Pizza Australia currently has a really good Final Fantasy XIV deal. That said, it looks like KFC China is taking the crazy to the next level when it comes to deals. The fast food chain is giving away a Fat Black Chocobo as a special mount for the game, and you’ll have to eat a family deal to get it. The deal sounds quite average at first, but you’ll quickly change your mind once you see the amount of KFC involved.

The family deal in question is for four, and you only get one code per family deal. You’ll also have to dine in, and finish the whole thing to get the code. This is what the family deal consists of:

  • 1 Double Chicken Burger
  • 1 Vegan Mushroom Burger
  • 1 5-piece Chicken Nuggets
  • 2 Original Recipe Chicken
  • 1 2-piece New Orland Chicken Wings
  • 1 Old Beijing Spicy Duck Roll
  • 2 Pepsi (Large)
  • 2 Peach Oolong Tea (Large)

Now, this would be fine if you actually went as a family, and only one of you played FF XIV and wanted the code. But if you actually went as a group of four friends, all of whom played the game and wanted the special mount, then you’ll have to multiply the set above by four. So you can imagine the pile of KFC that a party of four will have to take on, if every member wants the Fat Black Chocobo.

That doesn’t stop the Chinese FF XIV players from attempting it, though. Redditor CozyWolf compiled the accounts of a number of those who tried it. The resulting memes are hilarious, and one of them was actually kind of tragic. You can check out the rest by heading to the Reddit post in question, linked below.

It’s understandable that KFC China wants customers to finish the food before giving out the code. Otherwise, scalpers would have gotten their way, wasting food in the process. But for groups of FF XIV players who got together and tackled this like a real-life raid, it would surely spark some new friendships, and strengthen existing ones.
