Today is the first day of the fasting month of Ramadhan. In conjunction with religious event, Instagram is launching a new camera effect as part of it’s first ever Ramadhan campaign, called #MonthOfGood.
The effect in question is called Lantern, and it’s one that gives your shots an orange tint and some bokeh. In addition to the filter, shapes with an ornamental arabesque design are sprinkled in, alongside the crescent shape traditionally associated with the month of Ramadhan.
You can also have the crescent template sport other shapes, or have greetings in English or Arabic. Changing between them is as simple as tapping on the screen when the effect is active.
The Lantern effect for Instagram is already live, and should also be the first effect in the list. Accessing to it is as simple as tapping the Effects button in the app before taking your shot.
