The local convenience store chain, myNEWS has recently launched its own cashless payment app which is now readily available for both Android and iOS devices. While the myNEWS Malaysia app might have received its official launch this week, the pilot test for the app has already ongoing since earlier this year.
However, the myNEWS Malaysia app is not exactly like the e-wallet app you might have seen out there. The app acts more like a digital version of myNEWS Card although users can still choose to add up to 5 physical myNEWS Card that they might already own into the app alongside the virtual card.
Both the physical and virtual version of the card utilizes barcode interface for their transactions. For now, customers still have to visit myNEWS branches in order to load up funds into the myNEWS Malaysia app as there is no in-app or online reload option for it which is something that separates the app from being an e-wallet app.
Aside from the cashless payment capability, customers are also able to obtain, redeem, and monitor all of their myNEWS loyalty points through the app. To learn more about it, check out myNEWS official website here.
