Rumour has it that OnePlus is working on a followup to 2015’s OnePlus X; ostensibly called the OnePlus X2. Unfortunately for the hopefuls, it turns out that the rumours were false; with founder Carl Pei taking to Twitter to give the final word on the matter.
A report from a news site called TechPP claimed to have spoken to people close the matter. Indicating that there would be a device equipped with a Snapdragon 835 mobile platform, 4GB RAM, and 64GB storage. All for the low price of $250; a number that left many skeptical about the veracity of the rumour.
Pei, on his part, tweeted twice about the supposed phone. The first was a simple “nope” in reply to a tweet from GSMarena. The second was a link to a story about stopping the propagation of fake news. Either way, he has made a very clear point about there being a OnePlus X2.
Nope. ?♂️ https://t.co/hsFBhDFZ8J

In any case, OnePlus should have an actual product to announce. Most smartphone makers try to put out at least a couple of models each year. We may hear more from the company after MWC 2018; seeing that it rarely has much to say during the convention.
