Webe Will Not Be Taking Any New Customers After 12 January 2018

TM apparently will not be taking any new sign-ups for its Webe services after 12 January 2018. According to the FAQ document on its official website, this applies to both Webe Mobile and Webe Broadband.

Existing customers don’t have to worry though as their existing accounts will remain to function. Furthermore, Webe’s last call promotion is still going going on and will continue to take place until 12 January 2018 which is a big sign that TM is not shutting down its telco arm anytime soon.

Nevertheless, the company didn’t explain the reason behind this decision in its FAQ documents though which we have included at the end of the article below. However, we will not be surprised that it will lead to what have been stated in a report last month whereby Webe will fully embraced its new UniFi Mobile identity in January 2018 together with the introduction of new plans.

Meanwhile, we will be reaching out to the folks at TM for clarifications shortly. So, stay tuned.

UPDATE – 29 Dec // 449PM:

TM has responded to our query, by releasing this statement:

As we have previously announced, we are moving towards a more focused go-to-market approach in line with our convergence proposition under the single unifi brand.

Telekom Malaysia Berhad Group of Companies (TM Group) is committed towards full consolidation and convergence of our multiple brands and with this consolidation, unifi is now the single largest telecommunications brand in Malaysia.

Our mobility service, unifi mobile (previously known as webe) is also part of the master brand strategy which has been implemented progressively. In view of that, we will be ending the on-going webe promotion of RM79 per month with our “Last Call” campaign by 12 January 2018.

Rest assured, we remain dedicated to provide enhanced experiences to all our customers and look forward to continuously serve better with our innovative convergence proposition moving forward. This is part of our ongoing journey to offer a true convergence experience to all Malaysians.

In general, the statement didn’t provide any direct answer to what will come next from Webe. Nevertheless, the “innovative convergence proposition” that the company mentioned above does made us intrigued though. With that, 2018 could very be another interesting year for TM.
