Samsung’s latest patent appliction may just be outlandish enough for it to be a real product. Samsung proposing that future smartphones will have a fully-curved display, extending the edge to the rear of the device.
The patent hows a design where instead of an edge like the Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+, the sides of the phone will have rounded sides where the display goes 180 degrees to the back. In the patent filing, Samsung claims that this design provides ‘a completely new user experience’ and at the same time provides an ‘improved grip’.
This may or may not be a product heading to the mass market; however it is nice to see Samsung trying to innovate and come out with different ideas to stand out in the ever crowded smartphone arena.
