Google is promising that its latest Pixel series will receive Android software and security updates for three years from the time of release. Specifications page for the Pixel 2 shows that “Pixel’s software and security updates for three years’. As previous Google devices such as the Nexus and the Pixel were only promised with two years of updates.
With that said, if Google is indeed promising another year of support for Android updates, that will put it close to Apple in terms of supporting software updates for its devices.
The one year extension will definitely be welcomed by Pixel 2 owners. And its safe to say the Pixel 2 will be one of the most exciting smartphones for 2017.
