WWDC 2017: Keynote Roundup – Software Updates, 10.5” iPad Pro, iMac Pro, Home Pod, & More

WWDC 2017 is finally here. Early this morning, the Cupertino company held its annual worldwide developer conference, unveiling not only new major upgrades to its software, but also took the curtains off brand new devices such as a new 10.5” iPad Pro, a new iMac Pro, the much talked about HomePod smart home speaker, and a whole lot more.

Here’s a roundup of everything Apple announced this morning. To make things even more exciting for us Malaysians, some of the products are already listed in Apple Malaysia’s online store, and can even be ordered right now.

First up, the software updates. Every year at WWDC, Apple would announce new major software updates for most of its product lines. This year is no different, Apple announced the new iOS 11, macOS High Sierra, watchOS 4, and a brand new App Store that is built from the ground up.

iOS 11 – iOS 11 brings new experiences and “hundreds of features to iPhone and iPad”.

macOS High Sierra – Apple also previewed its macOS High Sierra, the latest version of its desktop operating system. With a similar name to the current macOS version, macOS Sierra, it is focused on perfecting what Apple has already got to offer.

watchOS 4 – Say hello to a new Siri watch face that can show you relevant information whenever your raise your wrist. The updated watch operating system from Apple also brings new GymKit, a personalised Activity coach, and new music experience.

As for devices, Apple also introduced refreshed iMac, a brand new iMac Pro, updated MacBooks, HomePod smart home hub, and new iPad Pros including the rumoured 10.5” iPad Pro.

Refreshed iMac – On top of being updated with the 7th generation Intel Kaby Lake processors, Apple also updated its iMac line-up with what they call the “best Mac displays ever”.

iMac Pro – 27” 5K display, 18-core Intel Xeon processor, AMD Radeon Pro Vega 64 GPU with HBM2-based 16GB VRAM, this is without the doubt the most powerful Mac ever made.

Updated MacBooks – Apple also revealed that it is updating its whole range of MacBook with faster Intel processor, yes, including the MacBook Air.

HomePod – Apple’s rumoured “Siri speaker” is finally here. Called the HomePod, it is the exact Amazon Echo competitor people expected it to be.

New iPad Pros – Not only did Apple update its 12.9” iPad Pro, it also took the curtains off a brand new 10.5” iPad Pro.

But what about things for us Malaysians? The new MacBook Line, iPad Pro, and refreshed iMac are already listed on Apple Malaysia’s online store.
