McDonald’s Malaysia Begins To Accept Credit and Debit Cards

Credit Card and Debit Card at McDonald's Malaysia

While credit and debit card might be a standard payment option at McDonald’s restaurants in certain countries such as US, UK, and Singapore, McDonald’s Malaysia didn’t offer such option even though its close rival KFC has implemented it back in 2008. However, this is going to change soon as we have spotted the payment option at McDonald’s Sunway Pyramid earlier this week.

Currently, customers will receive a free Sundae Cone ice cream if they choose to pay any amount above RM 10 with their credit or debit cards for a limited time although there is no minimum amount needed for users to use their cards. As shown in the image above, payment terminals that are available at the branch accepts American Express, JCB, MasterCard, Visa, and Visa payWave cards.

McDonald’s Malaysia is going cashless at Mid Valley LG Floor, Sunway Pyramid and 24/7 Bukit Bintang, Taman Tun, Titiwangsa, Shah Alam Section 4, Batu Caves. Applicable to #drivethru Pay with #visa #mastercard #amex #americanexpress #jcb #mydebit #mydebitcard with no minimum purchase! Please check with #McDonaldsMalaysia crew and get your free #sundaecone with purchase with your cards! #maybank #malaysia #creditcard #debitcard #chargecard #maybankard

We did a little bit of digging and as it turns out, McDonald’s Malaysia has actually implemented the new payment option since last month with the help of Maybank. In addition to Sunway Pyramid, other branches that also feature such option are Mid Valley Megamall, Bukit Bintang, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Titiwangsa, Seksyen 3 Shah Alam, and Batu Caves.

Furthermore, customers are also able to user their credit or debit card for drive-thru orders as well if such service are available at these branches. As more McDonald’s branches in Malaysia will be equipped with credit and debit card payment options soon, we do feel that the company might want to consider expanding the option to McDelivery as well which will certainly add another level of convenience to the service.
