NVIDIA’s booth at this year’s Mobile World Congress is largely meant to promote its range of new mobile processors, such as the Tegra K1, the company’s latest mobile processor. However, among the many reference tablets scattered around the booth, NVIDIA also had one surprise in store for those looking around: its Shield handheld gaming console.
The Android-based gaming console, first announced to the world at last year’s CES 2013, is the company’s interesting handheld console. It is powered by an NVIDIA Tegra 4 chipset that buzzes at up to 1.9GHz, 2GB of RAM, 5-inch 720p display as well as 16GB of storage. It runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, and also features support for streaming PC games onto the Shield console. The US$249 device is already available in select countries, but obviously Malaysia isn’t one of them.
