Talk about massive oversight.
The Nokia 808 PureView, widely regarded as the best camera smartphone out there, barely had a launch to call its own here in Malaysia. However, just like in plenty of countries worldwide, the 808 PureView has gained a stronger-than-expected consumer demand for the device due to its revolutionary PureView technology embedded within the 41-megapixel sensor. Interestingly, Nokia had underestimated the demand for the 808 PureView, and had previously been building far fewer devices than the current market interest. We’ve seen from the Malaysian community that many struggled to locate a local Nokia store that had the 808 PureView in stock. Some have resorted to firing e-mails to one of the local Nokia distributors, Avaxx, to reserve a unit directly.
The good news is, Nokia are working on resolving this device shortage. The bad news is, there isn’t any news on when exactly will the stocks be replenished. And, you can be sure there’ll be more waiting before they eventually make their way to our shores.
