Assassin’s Creed Unity is Riddled with Bugs and Does Not Run Well on Consoles

Those who have played the new Assassin’s Creed Unity on the PlayStation4 and Xbox One have reported choppy gameplay and inconsistent frame-rates. To make matters worse, those are not the only problems with the game; bugs are practically littered across the game making it occasionally unplayable.

Assassin’s Creed Unity is the first game in the franchise that is exclusively available on next-gen consoles, the PS4 and Xbox One. Considering that Unity will not be bogged down by last-gen consoles, players were excited to see the graphical improvements over its predecessor. True enough, the game does deliver in terms of graphics. Almost all graphical aspects were improved, including shadow, lighting, and character models. Most of them, except for one: a smooth, consistent frame-rate.

In the comparison video below, we can see that both consoles struggle to keep the game running at 30fps. The Xbox One, however, was at least three to five frames ahead. Ordinarily, cross-platform games on the PS4 run better than their Xbox One’s counterpart; even the folks over at Eurogamer.net could not figure out why the Xbox One has better frame-rates.

When it comes to cutscenes, however, the PS4 pulls ahead, while the Xbox One struggles to give a smooth frame-rate. This just adds more to the mystery on why there is such an inconsistent performance between the two console versions.

In terms of bugs and glitches, Assassin’s Creed Unity is filled to the brim with it. From textures not loading, to characters falling through the ground; some of which are just outright hilarious. Here are some examples of the glitches in the game:

Hopefully, Ubisoft is aware of these issues and will patch them accordingly, that is, if it’s even possible to rectify so many issues with patches. Here’s one final video showcasing some of the glitches in the game:
