DJI is planning to release a new addition to its lineup of compact drones sometime in the near future, if the rumour mill is to be believed. The Neo 3 has made a few unofficial appearances here and there, revealing some details on its design and features. Now, a recent leak has shed more light on the upcoming device, highlighting a notable upgrade from the Neo 2.
Unsurprisingly, this leak came from seasoned tipster Igor Bogdanov, who had previously shared images of the drone’s retail packaging. In his most recent X post dated 2 October 2026, the leakster shared an image listing the Neo 3’s key specifications. Based on this picture, the device will feature a large 1/1.1-inch square sensor with “true vertical shooting”. To recap, the current model launched with a 1/2-inch sensor, so this would be a pretty major upgrade.

Aside from that, the upcoming drone is said to offer 2x lossless zoom and vibrant portraits. However, there are no further details on the camera specifications. So, we have no information on aperture, image resolution, and video recording capabilities. With this in mind, there is some speculation that the company is using the same sensor as the one equipped on the Osmo Action 6, or the Osmo 360 II. But of course, this remains unproven thus far.
Other listed details include palm takeoff and landing, which is to be expected. The drone will also support one-handed gestures. Furthermore, the leak claimed that the device will feature high-speed ActiveTrack and auto camera movement, plus advanced omnidirectional obstacle sensing. Again, these are features found on the Neo 2. Meanwhile, selfie capabilities seem to be getting an upgrade with SelfieShot 2.0. The leak also mentioned “ready in seconds” and “seamless transfer” as highlights. Oh, and the RC Mini remote got a mention too.

Although Bogdanov’s post did not paint the full picture, we do know quite a bit more about the drone now. Past leaks have pointed to some changes to the propeller guards and overall design. The tipster also revealed that the drone will be heavier than its predecessor, weighing 192.7g.
As always though, these leaks are to be taken with a grain of salt. For now, DJI has not made any mention of the Neo 3.
