Dell has refreshed its lineup of business-oriented laptops with the new Dell Pro Essential 14 and Dell Pro Essential 15. Available in Celestial Blue and Platinum Silver finishes, the duo features a plastic resin chassis. According to the company, the new laptops are 11% thinner and about 9% to 16% lighter compared to the previous generation.
In terms of specifications, the two differ in terms of display. As the name suggests, the Pro Essential 14 comes with a 14-inch screen with your choice of either FHD+ resolution and 400 nits of brightness or 2.5K resolution and 500 nits of brightness. Meanwhile, the Pro Essential 15 sports a bigger 15.3-inch FHD+ display with a brightness of 400 nits. Beyond that, both devices offer the same features.
Some productivity-focused highlights include a revamped keyboard with shortcut keys, plus a 6% larger touchpad. For meetings, Dell is offering HD and FHD IR camera choices, as well as dual microphones and stereo speakers.
Under the hood, the laptops can be configured with Intel Core Series 3 processors, with options going from the Intel Core 3 304 to the Intel Core 7 360. Meanwhile, those preferring AMD CPUs can choose from the AMD Ryzen 3 210 to the AMD Ryzen 7 250. Regardless of processor, the laptops can be equipped with up to 32GB DDR5 5600 MT/s RAM and 1TB SSD. Other than that, users can get up to a 54Wh battery with 65W charging support.
For ports, the laptops feature two USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) ports with Power Delivery and DisplayPort, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 (5Gbps) ports, one HDMI 2.1 port, one RJ45 Ethernet port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Other features include TPM, a hardware-based security chip, biometric login options via fingerprint reader or FHD IR camera, a mechanical camera shutter, and a security lock slot.
