Proton’s EV subsidiary PRO-NET has announced strategic partnerships with several charging point operators (CPOs) to deploy Proton e.MAS-branded charging stations across Malaysia. The initiative confirms the automaker’s previously reported plans to roll out its own branded DC chargers and expand its presence in the local EV charging network this year.
The new partnerships involve ChargeSini, Charge+, JomCharge, RExharge, and Time Charge N Go, with the CPOs supporting the deployment and operation of Proton e.MAS-branded charging facilities. PRO-NET has previously worked with these operators to provide e.MAS and smart EV owners with access to a wider charging network.
These past collaborations included the establishment of charging facilities at selected locations, including condominiums and dealerships. The residential programme, for instance, provides access to charging at hundreds of high-rise locations, with rates starting from RM0.63/kWh at selected sites.
The latest announcement marks a more direct push towards Proton-branded charging infrastructure, including DC fast chargers. PRO-NET said that these chargers would start appearing at selected locations in Malaysia within this year, with the company looking to strengthen its charging network alongside the growing number of e.MAS vehicles on the road.
PRO-NET’s charging strategy also includes integrating multiple CPO networks into its digital ecosystem. Its integrated live charging map is available through the Proton e.MAS app and in-vehicle systems, allowing drivers to locate charging stations and check their availability.
With Proton e.MAS now offering multiple electrified models, including the e.MAS 5, e.MAS 7 and e.MAS 7 PHEV, the expansion of branded charging infrastructure is expected to complement the company’s growing EV lineup. PRO-NET says its existing network already provides access to more than 2,500 charging points through its integrated charging map.
The company has yet to disclose the exact number, locations, charging speeds, or rollout schedule for the newly announced e.MAS-branded stations. More details are therefore expected as the deployment progresses.
