The Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) has soft launched the upcoming Penang Autoshow 2026 and Johor Autoshow 2026. This marks the expansion of the Malaysian Autoshow series to deliver advanced automotive technologies to more regions across Malaysia.
The Penang Autoshow will be conducted at the Penang Waterfront Convention Centre from 1 May to 3 May 2026. Meanwhile, the Johor Autoshow will take place at Angsana Mall from 21 August to 23 August 2026. According to MARii, the reason behind choosing these two states is due to their strategic importance in Malaysia’s automotive landscape, particularly the increase in new energy vehicles within these states. These events are designed to replicate the immersive experience seen at MAEPS, bringing the same scale of engagement and innovation to regional audiences.

During the soft launch, it was also stated that activities such as test drives, auto fashion, 4×4 track drives, bike and car convoys, drift series, car giveaways, and technology showcases will be held. According to MARii, these regional editions will bring manufacturers, technology providers, and mobility solutions directly to local communities in the northern and southern regions, allowing them to experience cutting-edge vehicle technologies, electric mobility, and sustainable innovations firsthand.
According to the CEO of MARii, Azrul Rezza Aziz, the Penang and Johor autoshows present an opportunity to extend the mission of giving every Malaysian in every region access to new-generation vehicle technology, electric mobility, and sustainable innovation. “With this approach, we are not only expanding our reach, but also strengthening the development of the national automotive ecosystem in a more inclusive manner in line with the National Automotive Policy 2020,” he added.

On the other hand, Azrul said that in 2026, the Malaysia Autoshow will take a step back to give way to the Malaysian Automotive Association as they host the prestigious Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS) 2026. “However, our mission remains unchanged. The drive to bring the latest automotive innovations closer to Malaysians will not stop at one venue or one city,” he stated.
