DJI has unveiled the DJI Neo 2 as the follow-up to the DJI Neo. The compact drone is a bit bulkier than its predecessor, weighing in at 151g. Despite the increase in mass, the palm-sized device offers the same functionality as the previous generation, while also introducing some new features.

One of the notable upgrades is the inclusion of obstacle sensing. The company has equipped the DJI Neo 2 with an omnidirectional monocular vision system with forward-facing LiDAR and a downward infrared sensing system. This allows the drone to detect and avoid obstacles.

As for the imaging system, the drone packs a 1/2-inch CMOS sensor capable of snapping 12MP photos, as well as recording 4K videos at 60FPS and 100FPS. A dual-axis gimbal offers improved image stabilisation. Aside from that, the drone supports gesture controls. DJI has also bumped up the internal storage to 49GB.

In addition to this, the DJI Neo 2 packs a bigger 1,606mAh battery, which offers flight times of up to 19 minutes on a single charge. Speaking of which, the drone can reach a maximum height of 2,000m, much like the preceding model. On the other hand, it gets a faster 12m/s tracking speed.

At the moment, the DJI Neo 2 is available in the brand’s home market for CNY1,499 (~RM884). Buyers can also get the drone along with batteries and a charging case for CNY1,999 (~RM1,179). Finally, the company is selling bundles that include the DJI Neo 2 and accessories like controllers and goggles. These retail for CNY2,499 (~RM1,473) and CNY3,699 (~RM2181).

While the drone is also already available in other regions, it has yet to arrive on our shores. That said, DJI Malaysia has shared a teaser on its social media platforms. The event is slated for 6 November 2025, so we can expect to learn about the drone’s local availability and pricing then.
