We’ve previously seen claims that the MacBook Pro won’t be releasing this year. A more recent claim though notes that Apple may be releasing not only the M5 MacBook Pro, but also a few others armed with the chip. This includes refreshes for the iPad Pro, and even the Vision Pro.
Mark Gurman of Bloomberg notes in his Power On newsletter that the reveal of the new line up may happen as soon as sometime this week. And it will be a smaller affair. As in, it’s one that’s purely online rather than a big deal physical event with a streaming equivalent such as with the iPhone launch.
Worth noting though is that it is only the 14-inch MacBook Pro armed with the base model M5 chip that Apple is unveiling. This is because the Pro and Max variants of the chip still “won’t be ready in volume” until then. That’s not a problem with the base model of the chip.
It also coincides with the market situation for the M4 generation of the Apple laptop. Gurman notes that stock for MacBook Pros with the base model chip is running low, while Pro and Max variants remain in supply.
