Sony has introduced a new special edition PS5 controller as part of its 30th anniversary celebrations for PlayStation. Officially named the “Icon Blue Special Edition DualSense”, this new release pays tribute to the console’s legacy with a design inspired by the gaming brand’s most recognisable shades of blue.
“From the moment the console powers on and the DualSense controller lights up, that signature blue glow signals the start of something special,” Leo Cardoso from PlayStation’s Color, Material, and Finish team said in an official blog post. “Inspired by PlayStation’s iconic shades of blue, this design captures the feeling of anticipation and wonder every time you pick up the controller.”
Apart from the colour, subtle PlayStation button symbols can be seen in the centre, while the back of the controller bears a Katakana engraving that spells out “Pureisutēshon”, the Japanese transliteration of the brand. Functionally, the Icon Blue controller is identical to other DualSense models, featuring adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, motion sensors, and a built-in microphone.
The Icon Blue Special Edition DualSense is slated to launch in the US and Canada on 20 October, priced at US$84.99 (~RM358). For now, the controller is also confirmed for release in Mexico and Chile, though there’s no word yet on whether it will be available in other regions, including Malaysia.

On a related note, Sony previously unveiled limited edition Reebok sneakers, which are also slated for sometime this month. However, much like the controller, as well as other recently announced 30th anniversary merchandise, the shoes only announced for certain markets only, at least for the time being.
