Google teased a lot of upgrades that are coming to the Pixel Buds Pro 2 during its Made by Google event. Now, the tech giant is finally rolling out the update that gives the earbuds in question adaptive audio, gesture controls, and more.
First on the list is the Adaptive Audio feature, which can be found in the Active Noise Control section of the Pixel Buds app. This function will automatically adjust the volume of your buds based on your surrounding environment and help you stay alert.
The update also features a Loud Noise Protection function. It functions similarly to adaptive audio in that, rather than reducing your audio playback, it detects and reduces incoming noises that it deems too loud.
Moving on, Google will be improving the clarity of your Gemini Live conversations even in noisy environments. The update features advanced audio processing that will prioritise your voice and do its best to eliminate background noise. The tech giant claims your Gemini Live conversations can remain uninterrupted even when others are speaking around you. However, the company notes that this feature may differ depending on subscription and account and is only available in select countries and languages.
Lastly, the company is introducing head-based gesture controls. With it, users can now nod to answer a call or start dictation for a text reply, or shake their heads to decline or dismiss them, respectively.
The update will roll out gradually to all users and will take about 10 minutes to download fully, plus an additional 10 minutes to install. Alternatively, users can opt for a manual download and installation by going to the Google Pixel Buds app and tapping “Manual update available” under “Firmware update” in the settings menu. It is worth noting that the buds need to be in their cases with sufficient charge for the update to install. So, if you’ve not received the update for it yet, be patient is all.
