Remember GWM’s Ora brand? If not, it is probably because the Baoding automaker has not launched any model since 2022. However, that is about to change as the brand is preparing to launch the GWM Ora Cat SUV, which will be known as the Ora 5 and Ora i5 in other markets.
This information according to CNC, came to light when it was revealed through filings submitted to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). From the leaked pictures, it appears that the new Ora Cat closely resembles the Ora Good Cat available in the Malaysian market.

The front fascia retains Porsche-inspired circular headlights, paired with a large trapezoidal air intake. At the rear, a sleek horizontal LED taillight strip is complemented by practical roof rails. The charging port is positioned on the front right fender for convenient access. Additional design highlights include 18-inch alloy wheels, optional LiDAR sensors, and traditional door handles in place of flush-mounted ones.
As for the interior, there is no information available yet. However, since the exterior strongly resembles the Ora Good Cat, we can expect a similar treatment for the cabin as well. This suggests that the Ora Cat’s interior may feature a clean and classy design, complemented by a large display combining both the instrument cluster and infotainment system. We can also expect massage seats, a two-tone interior, and a multifunction steering wheel.

Under the floor, the Ora Cat SUV is equipped with an electric motor manufactured by GWM’s subsidiary, Hycet. It produces an output of 150 kW. The motor is powered by an SVOLT-made LFP battery, although the capacity has not been specified. The SUV is claimed to have a top speed of 170 km/h.
As of now, these are the details available on the Ora Cat. However, we can expect the automaker to release more information soon. Regarding its availability in Malaysia, there is a fair chance the model could make its local debut, given the decent presence of the Ora Good Cat in the country. Notably, the sportier variant of the hatchback was recently spotted during the Merdeka Day parade as part of MITI’s convoy.
