Tesla has officially unveiled a new variant of the Model Y for the European market. As previously reported, this addition is the Performance All-Wheel Drive version of the Model Y, and Tesla has updated its European market website to include the Performance variant in the line-up.
The last time we saw the Performance variant, it was camouflaged; however, now that it has been unveiled, it is clear that the car has received several design updates. The updates begin with the redesigned front fascia, which now features larger side air intakes and a new lower grille. The rear now comes with a larger spoiler and a much thicker and bigger diffuser. Completing the new look are the 21-inch Arachnid 2.0 wheels.
Inside, the new variant of the mid-size SUV features a handcrafted cabin adorned with carbon fibre trim. At the centre is an updated 16-inch infotainment display, replacing the 15.4-inch unit found in other variants. The front row now comes with sport seats featuring thigh extension, along with other functions. Elsewhere, the SUV retains its 8-inch rear display, heated and ventilated rear seats, ambient lighting, and a premium 15-speaker audio system with a dedicated subwoofer.
Under the floor, the Performance Model Y is powered by Tesla’s new ‘Performance 4DU’ drive units, delivering 343 kW (460 PS). The SUV completes the century sprint in just 3.3 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 249 km/h. On a full charge, it offers a WLTP-rated range of 579 km, and with fast charging, it can recover up to 243 km of range in just 15 minutes. Complementing the powertrain are advanced multilink suspension with electronically controlled variable damping and multiple drive modes.
As for pricing, in the European market it is priced at EUR61,999 (~RM106,523), or GBP 61,990 (~RM 354,678) in the UK. As of now, there is no confirmation of the Tesla Model Y Performance being available in Malaysia.
