In conjunction with the upcoming 68th National Day celebrations, 14 roads will be closed from 26 to 29 August to facilitate rehearsals. This was announced by the Kuala Lumpur Police Chief, Datuk Fadil Marsus, in a media statement shared on the Kuala Lumpur Police’s official Facebook page.
These road closures will take place from 6:00AM to 12:00PM on 26 to 28 August, while on 29 August the roads will be closed from 10:00PM onwards. The affected roads are as listed below:
- Lebuh Wawasan / Persiaran Perdana
- Jalan Tun Razak / Lebuh Bestari
- Jalan Tun Razak / Jalan P2K
- Jalan Tun Razak / Jalan Pembangunan
- Jalan Tun Razak / Jalan P3C
- Jalan Tun Razak / Jalan P3F
- Jalan Tun Razak / Jalan Kemerdekaan
- Lebuh Setia / Jalan Perpaduan
- Lebuh Saujana / Persiaran Perdana
- Lebuh Setia / Jalan Tun Hussien
- Jalan Kemerdekaan / Jalan Tun Hussien
- Jalan Pembangunan / Jalan Tun Hussien
- Lebuh Bestari / Jalan Tun Hussien
- Dataran Putra / Persiaran Perdana

Furthermore, there are 14 main roads that will remain closed until 31 August. The roads involved in this closure are:

- Traffic Light Lebuh Setia / Jalan Tun Hussien
- Traffic Light Lebuh Saujana / Jalan Tun Hussien

Fadil also added that the PDRM will be carrying out Op Pencegahan Jenayah during the National Day eve celebrations. The focus will be on hotspot areas and crowded locations. “The Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department will manage traffic at key locations, such as Dataran Merdeka, KLCC, Bukit Bintang and TRX, which will attract large crowds that night,” he said.
“They are also advised to use public transportation services, namely the free shuttle bus service provided at 15-minute intervals from three different locations,” he added. Additionally, the Putrajaya MRT Line service will operate from 30 August at 12:01am until 31 August at 12 midnight.

Besides that, the Water Taxi service will be available on 30 August from 8:00pm until 1:00am (paid service) and on 31 August from 5:00am until 2:00pm (free of charge). The public is also advised not to park their vehicles in restricted areas or locations that may cause traffic disruption.
