vivo has officially confirmed that the vivo Vision is slated to launch in China on 21 August. The MR headset was previewed at the Boao Forum for Asia in China earlier this week and was made to directly compete with the Apple Vision Pro.
The Chinese tech company is wearing its inspiration on its sleeve, arguably imitating the design languages of its Apple rival. The most noticeable difference between the two is the weight, where the vivo Vision was reported to be far lighter, due in large part to the external battery.

Android Headlines alleges that the vivo Vision will not be a mass-market item at the time of launch. The headset will get a controlled rollout in China, as the company would like to test the waters and gather feedback before any large-scale retailing. Physical outlets can provide customers in-store experiences, while those who’d like to own one can reserve their own unit. Neither the company nor the report made any mention as to when we can expect this large-scale retailing.

The report also claims that vivo’s MR device is being powered by a “high-end” Qualcomm Snapdragon chip and is said to be in direct competition with Apple’s very own M2 processor. Additionally, the display has been reported to be “immersive and precise”, which is said to be on par with the Vision Pro with a similar control scheme. Unfortunately, the report did not delve deep into the specifics of the chipset or the display.
