Earlier in the year, vivo unveiled its first attempt at breaching the mixed reality (MR) headset market with the announcement of the vivo Vision. Now, after months of waiting, people were able to finally test the device at the Boao Forum for Asia in China.
During the forum, Han Boxiao, the product manager for vivo, shared a few key selling points about the headset. He boasted that the device is both light and comfortable to wear, something that many testers concurred with during their early impressions. In a Weibo post, the manager elaborated that it is similar to Apple AirPods Max in terms of weight, which is quite heavy still but it is far lighter than most of the offerings in the VR headset space.
In another post, CCTV host Zhu Guangquan was well photographed when testing out the vivo Vision. These photos capture his experience with the headset, with one photo in particular showcasing the cable running down from the headset and into an external battery — a key reason why it is far more lightweight than the rest of the competition.
Though no official date has been announced, Boxiao shared that the vivo Vision is releasing soon. IT HOME reported that the headset will be available in the second half of the year and quoted Zhu, saying that employees are internally testing the device and that it will be released “soon.”
