Yadea, a Chinese manufacturer of electric bikes, has extended its e-scooter line-up in Malaysia with the launch of the Velax. The Yadea Velax will be distributed in Malaysia by MForce Bike Holdings Berhad (MForce). In China, the e-scooter is available in four variants; however, only one of them – the Velax H – will be available in Malaysia.

In terms of design, the scooter has a compact step-through scooter body style. It comes with large LED lights in the front and sharp tail lights. It also comes with 14-inch wheels. The Velax measures 1,944mm in length, 704mm in width and 1,097mm in height.

Furthermore, the seat has a height of 760mm and a width of 712mm. With these measurements, theoretically, the e-scooter should be comfortable to ride. In terms of connectivity, the Velax comes with a USB charging port and a storage pocket.

The Yadea Velax features a wheel hub motor with a peak power of 3.2kW and 172Nm of torque. It has a top speed of 62km/h. The e-scooter is powered by a 72V Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery with a range of 105km. The battery takes eight hours for a full charge, while six hours achieves 0 to 80%.

Additionally, it has a disc brake in front and a brake which is paired with a Combined Braking System (CBS). The scooter can be ridden in either Eco mode or Sports mode. Furthermore, the automaker claims that the battery and motor have an integrated IPX7 water resistance rating. This means the Velax will be able to ride through water up to 300mm deep and can be submerged in water for 30 minutes.

Other features in the Yadea Velax include Bluetooth unlocking, over-the-air upgrades, movement alerts, electronic geofencing, vehicle location and tracking, and a side-stand safety switch, plus Yadea mobile app integration with smart ride monitoring. The mobile app integration also includes a customised charger reminder and a family account sharing feature.

Finally, the Yadea Velax comes with a price tag of RM7,099 excluding road tax, insurance and registration fees. Customers would also receive rebates of up to RM2,400 under the MARiiCas EV bike incentive. The scooter comes with a two-year or 20,000km warranty. Stocks of the Velax will be available from next week onwards in registered MForce stores.
