Synology has introduced its latest consumer Network-Attached Storage (NAS) product, the BeeStation Plus. A tier above its existing BeeStation model, which offered up to 4TB of storage, the Plus brings to the table a higher capacity support of up to 8TB.
Design-wise, the BeeStation Plus’ overall look and connectivity layout resembles that of its sibling. In regards to the latter, it comes with two USB ports, including one USB 3.2 Type-A port and one USB 3.2 Type-C port, as well as one RJ-45 port with 1GbE wired internet connection support.
Similarly, you can access the NAS via the BeeStation for Desktop software, or the BeePhotos and BeeFiles applications for Android and iOS operating systems. Alternatively, you can also utilise a web browser by entering the device’s IP address when on your home network.
Additionally, the BeeStation Plus comes with built-in Plex Media Server platform support. This enables users, especially content creators, an easier way to remotely access video files that are stored on the NAS, or simply utilise it as your personal streaming library of movies, TV shows and so on.
As for security, the device utilises snapshot-based restore points, combined with Synology’s BeeProtect cloud backup subscription, which is offered at no charge for three-months upon purchase. Outside of the free trial period, the 4TB plan is priced at US$5.99 (~RM25) monthly or US$59.99 (~RM253) annually, while the 8TB plan is at US$11.99 (~RM50) monthly or US$119.99 (~RM507) annually.
Synology has yet to confirm the pricing and availability for the BeeStation Plus in Malaysia. For what it’s worth, the NAS is already listed on the brand’s local website, indicating that it could arrive sometime in the near future.
