Electric vehicle (EV) sales in Malaysia are projected to triple by 2030, making it crucial to ensure the availability of sufficient charging infrastructure to support a smooth transition for consumers. With this in mind, Kineta Sdn Bhd and Charge+ announced a strategic partnership last week at the ongoing Malaysia Auto Show (MAS 2025).
With the help of Kineta, Charge+ will be able expand its EV charging network across Malaysia. Furthermore, customers of both companies will benefit from seamless access to chargers across both networks. The two companies also plan to collaborate on major EV charging projects, not only within Malaysia but throughout Southeast Asia.
Kineta is backed by one of Malaysia’s largest teams of Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST)-certified engineers. This expertise ensures that all residential and commercial charger installations meet the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance. To date, the company has sold over 9,000 chargers and completed more than 6,000 installations across both retail and large-scale commercial locations.
“We’re honoured to join forces with Charge+” said the Kineta managing director, Sunny Lee. “This strategic alliance is a major milestone in our mission to accelerate EV adoption in Malaysia, while paving the way for a seamless cross-border charging experience,” he added.
Charge+ is a key player in Southeast Asia’s EV charging landscape. With a rapidly growing footprint, the company currently operates more than 3,000 charging points across six countries; Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Indonesia.
Currently, Charge+ has set a goal to deploy 30,000 charging points by 2030. “This partnership will also enable the mission of Charge+ to build a 5,000km DC charging highway across Southeast Asia,” added Charge+ CEO Goh Chee Kiong.
