Apple is celebrating ten years of its Apple Watch Activity rings with an event called Global Close Your Rings Day on 24 April. Users are encouraged to close all three rings (Move, Exercise, and Stand) to receive a limited-edition digital award (shown above), ten animated stickers, and a badge for Messages.
Additionally, the company revealed that a special physical pin inspired by the same Close Your Rings award will be available at Apple Store locations worldwide starting 24 April, while stocks last. Of course, you’ll need to earn the award on your Apple Watch first as proof in order to earn the limited edition pin.
The company says the Activity rings have become one of the most recognisable features of Apple Watch since their debut, offering a simple and customisable way for users to stay active. In its recent blog update, Apple highlights that people who frequently closed their rings were 48% less likely to report poor sleep, 73% less likely to have elevated resting heart rates, and 57% less likely to experience elevated stress levels.
These insights come from the Apple Heart and Movement Study, conducted in partnership with Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the American Heart Association. Based on data from more than 140,000 participants in the US, the findings reinforce the link between consistent activity and improved sleep, heart health, and mental wellbeing. Apple also emphasised that all health features are grounded in scientific research, with user data encrypted both on-device and in iCloud.
