Doom. It’s the franchise that’s been seeing a revival, not because of the good work done with the reboot and the upcoming prequel, but because of the number of ports the original 1993 game has been made to play on. From a pregnancy test kit to the display of a robotic lawnmower, one company is paying homage to the porting with a special, limited edition version of the very first and second release of the IP.

Limited Run Games is a US-based company known for making limited edition physical copies of popular video games and this year, it’s selling a collector’s edition of the first-person shooter in a box, in which you can play Doom and Doom 2 on the built in screen. It’s called the Will It Run Edition, and it will be available for preorder starting 18 April (19 April for us), with copies available on the Switch, Xbox, PS5, and PC.

In keeping with both the spirit and theme of the Hellwalker, LImited Run Games will only be making 666 units of this special Doom edition, and at the demon summoning, hellish price of US$666.66 (~RM2,950). To up the ante, the Will It Run Edition also includes an assortment of extra games, levels, upgrades for the gameplay, but most importantly, a special Cacodemon accessory that – you guessed it – will also play Doom.

Other extras included into the Doom Will It Run Edition are four hours of game soundtracks on four cassette tapes, a 3-inch cacodemon figurine that floats on top of a magnetic base, and a pack of random trading cards. The other games included with the pack are TNT: Evilution, The Plutonia Experiment, Master Levels for Doom II, No Rest for the Living, Sigil, Sigil II, a new Deathmnatch pack containing 25 maps, and Legacy of Rust. The latter having released just last year.
