Xiaomi has officially launched the Redmi A5, its latest budget smartphone under its sub-brand, in Indonesia. It features a large display with an entry-level processor, a nominally larger battery, and a downgraded camera setup compared to the A4 5G.
The Redmi A5 sports a 6.88-inch 720p LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 450 nits. Powering the budget device is a Unisoc T7250 chipset, which was previously known as the Unisoc T616, along with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. On the software side, it runs on Android 15 (Go Edition) while for security, it gets a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Imaging-wise, the entry-level phone is equipped with a 32MP rear camera as well as an 8MP front sensor. Backing it is a 5,200mAh battery with support for 15W charging. As for connectivity, it supports 4G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, and it has a headphone jack.
The Redmi A5 retails at IDR1,199,000 (~RM321) in Indonesia, but the company has yet to announce a Malaysian launch date. However, it will likely be released here soon given that it has already made an appearance on the SIRIM database alongside the POCO C71, which is speculated to be a rebadged A5.
