Qualcomm has introduced its next-gen lineup of Snapdragon G Series Gaming Platforms at this year’s Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco. The new series includes the Snapdragon G3 Gen 3, Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 and Snapdragon G1 Gen 2, each engineered to provide improved performance, efficiency and connectivity for portable gaming devices.

Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 is the first in the series to support Lumen, Unreal Engine 5’s real-time global illumination and reflections system, specifically for Android-based gaming handhelds. Qualcomm claims it delivers a 30% boost in CPU performance and 28% faster graphics capabilities compared to its predecessor, while also improving power efficiency. The platform supports Wi-Fi 7, which helps reduce latency and increase bandwidth for smoother online gaming.

Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 is tailored for gaming and cloud gaming at up to 144 frames per second, offering significant improvements over the previous generation. Qualcomm states that CPU performance is 2.3 times faster, while GPU speeds are 3.8 times higher than the Snapdragon G2 Gen 1. Like the G3 Gen 3, it also supports Wi-Fi 7 for better wireless connectivity.

Meanwhile, the Snapdragon G1 Gen 2 is aimed at a wider audience, supporting gameplay at up to 1080p resolution and 120 FPS. Designed primarily for cloud gaming on dedicated handheld devices, it features an 80% faster CPU and a 25% faster GPU compared to its predecessor.
