nubia has announced the arrival of the Flip 5G, the brand’s first clamshell foldable smartphone, in the Malaysian market. Going on sale next week, the phone is set to be the second cheapest foldable here; it actually has a very similar design to the most affordable foldable, the Tecno Phantom V Flip.
The Flip sports a 6.9-inch inner OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate as well as a circular island on the outside that houses the 1.43-inch OLED outer display along with cameras in the rim. Underneath the chassis, it contains a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, shipping with MyOS 13 based on Android 13.
On the imaging side, the clamshell device features a 50MP main camera and a 2MP depth sensor in the circular screen, while the inner display contains a 16MP selfie shooter. Powering the phone is a small 4,310mAh battery with support for 33W charging. Connectivity-wise, it supports 5G, up to Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.2.
The Flip retails for RM3,999 in two colour options and will be available starting 15 April 2024 on its Lazada store. However, those who purchase it between 15 to 17 April can get it at a discounted price of just RM2,499, while the first sale promotion between 18 April to 15 May will see the foldable being offered at RM2,899.
